On behalf of local residents, I’ve written to Steve Hartman, Operating Manager at First Essex Buses about the 65 route stops in Colchester town centre asking for reinstatement of the stop in St Johns Street.

Dear Mr. Hartman,

Bus Route 65 – Colchester Stop Changes

Recent changes to bus stop allocations in Colchester town centre, in particular the 65 route, have led to an adverse effect on regular bus users who have come to rely on the service stopping at certain stops in the town.

A recent complaint from Stanway residents has been focussed around the removal of the bus stopping point for the 65 route at St Johns Street, Colchester.

This stop was frequently used by many passengers of the service, many of whom are visiting shops in the nearby shopping centre, including Wilko, often leaving with bags of shopping to take home.

Removal of the stopping point for the 65 service heading towards Stanway, has had a detrimental impact on bus users, those with walking difficulties and the infirm, who have been left with no option but to either walk uphill towards Crouch Street or back towards the bus station in Osborne Street.

Residents have raised their concerns with me as a member of the Stanway Action Team. I am writing to ask that serious consideration be given by First Essex to reintroduce the 65 service stop at St Johns Street in Colchester, with immediate effect.

Thank you for your time. I look forward in receiving your reply as a matter of urgency.

Kind regards,
Jeremy Hagon
