Priti Patel, MP for Stanway has written to give her support for road safety improvements along the Winstree Road area in Stanway.
Writing to confirm her intention towards the safety campaign, a copy of her letter is below:
Thank you for your email, dated the 6 September 2017, detailing your ongoing concerns over road safety outside the Stanway Fiveways Primary School. You will know that this is an issue I take very seriously and I am pleased to see that action is being taken to raise the matter by Councillor Kevin Bentley.
I would be happy to give my support to your campaign to improve road safety on Winstree Road. I am sure that any upgrades will be extremely beneficial in improving the situation for the immediate future.
What makes the necessity for further improvement more vital is the planned expansion of both Stanway Primary Schools. In light of this impending development, I have written to Councillor Ray Gooding, Cabinet Member for Education at Essex County Council (ECC) to raise your concerns and ask that he works with his colleague, Councillor Ian Grundy Cabinet Member for Highways at ECC, to look into how improved road safety can be ensured for the school’s redevelopment.
I have also contacted Co-Headteachers of the Stanway School, Mr Jonathan Bland and Mr Scott Holder, to ask for their support in your campaign to improve pupils safety along Winstree Road. I will write again as soon as I receive substantive responses.
The issue of road safety outside schools is a crucially important matter and once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me over this issue. I hope we receive a quick and positive response and in the mean time, if I can be of any further assistance to you on this matter, or any other, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Priti Patel, MP.
